Persons with disabilities
In order to meet every specific travelling need, we offer you some information that you need to know in advance.
In order to ensure the comfort of persons with disabilities, we have to take into account a number of factors:
- the person's health;
- the required equipment;
- the airline transporters involved;
- the maximum limitations for each plane type.
A. For persons who suffer from different diseases (Medical Case)
It is mandatory that:
- the reservation and payment of the travelling documents be made at least 72 hours before the travelling date;
- you should show at the acceptance office a medical certificate released by a doctor, showing that he/she can travel at the specific solicited date and on the specific solicited route;
- the passenger should be accompanied by an adult person with medical training.
a) Using a stretcher
There are certain limitation depending on plane type for this: on the AT42 and AT72 plane there can be no stretchers installed and for tha B 737 and A 318 can be used only one stretcher per plane.
The additional costs, both at the departure airport, as well as in the transit area or the final destination, are the passenger's responsability. These costs represent the ambulance transportation to/from the plane and acces to the restricted areas. The stretcher is paid according to the Romanian tariffs.
A passenger who requires a stretcher is considered Medical Case and is treated according to the information presented above.
b) For persons who require suplimentary ammounts of oxygen (OXYG)
This service is free of charge and there are no numerical limitations for the persons that require this service.
You need to know that:
- the passenger's personal oxygen tanks are not accepted on board;
- before releasing a ticket for a passenger that requests this service, TAROM's approval is necessary because they supply the tanks for the flight;
- the passenger is considered Medical Case and has to show at the check-in office a medical certificate released by a doctor, showing that he/she can travel at the specific solicited date and on the specific solicited route, as well as the ammount of oxygen/minute needed and if the oxygen is needed continously or at specific time intervals (if so, these have to be mentioned).
B. For passengers with reduced mobility
The passenger's wheelchair:
- is transported only in the hold, the batteries must be removed and packed in ermetically sealed boxes;
- should be dessembled before getting to the registration office;
- should be announced when making a reservation;
- it's weight and size should be mentioned.
The wheelchair is transported free of charge.
For passengers who require wheelchair in the cabin
For this service there are certain limitations for each plane type: they are not accepted on the AT 42 and AT72 plane, on the B737 the maximum number of wheelchairs is 2 and for the A 318 the maximum number is of 6 passengers.
When the reservation is made, it is necessary that you notify the requirement and mention if the illness is considered Medical Case.

The passegers can announce this request when they make a reservation or directly form the Passenger Assistance Office. There are no limitations for this service.
C. Passengers who are not considered medical case
