In 1992 TAROM started an intensive modernizing process of its fleet.
Two AIRBUS A-310 aircraft were purchased in 1992, two BOEING 737 in 1993, and three other 737 were purchased in 1994.
Since 1998 short and medium-range ATR 42-500 and four other BOEING 737 aircraft entered the TAROM fleet.
Financing this ambitious strategy was not an easy task: since 1992, TAROM has spent more than USD 350 million in purchasing new aircraft and equipment. TAROM intends to continue this modernization process by ordering other modern aircraft.
