The flight towards a more sustainable air transport industry starts with TAROM and SkyTeam, on the International Day for Biological Diversity.
The second edition of The SkyTeam Sustainable Flight Challenge takes place between the 15th and the 28th of May, 2023.
TAROM dedicates the first flight of the SkyTeam challenge to the wondrous Biodiversity of the Danube Delta, one of the most appreciated natural wonders of the world.
Please see this symbolic gesture as a call for our shared responsibility to protect and conserve the Danube Delta's priceless natural heritage.
We, at TAROM, are happy and grateful to participate in the SkyTeam Sustainable Flight Challenge, since the last edition of the friendly competition TAROM was awarded first place in three separate categories of challenges: the company with "the least CO2 emissions on a medium courier fligh"t, the company with" the best waste management system" and the company with" the best employee engagement". This competition, however is not about winners and losers, it's about getting a strong win for the environment.
22 airlines joined this years` challenge. TAROM aims to innovate and show, once again, that we are capable of self-improvement in order to reach sustainable goals and build new and applicable recipe for the whole industry. Our secret is simple. A great innovation team of aviation professionals ready and eager to push for this common goal.
The key flights are, for medium courier, RO415 și RO 416 Bucharest – Madrid – Bucharest on the 22nd of May and shor courier RO 237 si RO 238 Bucharest-Budapest - Bucharest.
Why fly sustainability?
Sustainable development means first and foremost awareness for the real impact that each of our activities has on the environment. This is why TAROM will always show that we can safely and securely fly with top efficiency and lowest possible CO2 emissions.
Only together
We would like to thank all our passengers for their willingness to participate in our pro-environment and pro-efficiency messages. Especially for understanding that as far as luggage is concerned, sometimes less is more. A lighter load for an aircraft means significantly less CO2 emissions, as well as lower boarding times! In one short word: efficiency.
SkyTeam organized a friendly competition of ideas and innovations with the goal to test credible solutions for reducing any negative environment impact that the air transport industry has. In 2022, the SkyTeam Sustainable Flight Challenge clearly demonstrated that airlines can fly on average with 32% plus efficiency and an altogether lower CO2 impact. Please see the last years' result here.
We wish all 1500+ participants in the challenge good luck and please know that we appreciate everything you are doing in order to build a more sustainable air transport business.
We would like to thank all the internal and external partners involved in this project, who, through their actions, contribute to the sustainable flights.
With TAROM and SkyTeam we fly higher, lighter and more sustainable!
