TAROM accepts only cats and dogs in the passenger cabin. In order for the pets to be accepted, they have to fulfil the following requirements:
- to be mentioned when the passenger books the flight ticket. Firstly, the pet has to be confirmed for travelling by TAROM and can afterwards be accepted on board;
- to be healthy: the passenger has to have a travelling international passport for the pet;
- if you are travelling in the Schengen space, the pet has to have a identification microcip and has to be vaccinated, according to the access requirements of your destination country;
- to be transported in IATA standard cage. Also, they can be transported in ‘soft bag’ type cage (fabric, waterproof cage, in accordance with the international regulations). The cages can be purchased from the specialized stores in selling pet products;
- to be clean;
- shouldn’t be pregnant;
- shouldn’t produce any discomfort for the other passengers
- must be kept inside the container/kennel/soft bag during the whole flight.
- if travelling within a soft bag, your pet must fit completely inside the soft bag (including head and tail). The soft bag must be closed on all sides.
In the passenger cabin only dogs and cats are allowed, weighing up to 8 kilos (the weight of the standard transportation cage is included).
The maximum cage dimensions must not be over 42 x 26 x 20 cm.
There is a number of acceptance restrictions for pets travelling in the passenger cabin:
- Maximum one cage/kennel per passenger. However 2 or more animals are allowed in the same container, if they are familiar with each other, provided the maximum weight (including the container/soft bag) is not exceeded.
- Pets, when travelling in the passenger cabin with an unaccompanied minor or an infant (child under 2 years of age) or when travelling with a wheelchair passenger (regardless of the type of wheelchair), are not allowed.
- Only soft bags are allowed for the carriage of pets in the passenger cabin of ATR type aircraft. Hard-shell containers are forbidden.
- Maximum number of pets travelling in the passenger cabin is restricted based on the aircraft type, according to the table below:

If you show up at the check-in desk or at the boarding gate without a confirmed reservation for your pet or if you do not follow the acceptance and transport conditions for pets (maximum weight, health, cleanliness, cage/kennel/soft bag dimensions, etc.), we can deny the carriage of your pet.
